AI plays a key role in addressing climate change and environmental challenges by enabling large-scale data analysis, modelling, and prediction. This sector brings together research institutions, environmental agencies, and companies working with climate and earth system data.

Climate and Earth system data are among the most complex and data-intensive resources, combining high-resolution simulations, remote sensing data, and long-term observational datasets. Through the collaboration with initiatives such as Destination Earth (DestinE) and partnerships with ESA and NASA, we enable access to large-scale, high-quality datasets. By combining diverse datasets, we enable the creation of advanced models, such as global foundation models for vegetation and plant growth. These capabilities help transform complex environmental data into actionable insights for climate adaptation and mitigation. Through this, JAIF supports the development of AI applications for weather forecasting, climate modelling, and environmental monitoring.
